Drivers Picking Songs To Be Played At Bristol Driver Introductions

Bristol Motor Speedway announced on Wednesday that during the driver introductions for this weekend’s Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, the drivers will enter the stage to the song of their choice being played on the PA system.

The story on the website names some of the songs drivers have selected. AC/DC will figure into the intros, as Mark Martin has requested “For Those About To Rock” and both Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jimmie Johnson have selected “Thunderstruck”. Jeff Gordon will enter to the Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up”, while Jeff Burton chose Guns-N-Roses’ “Welcome To The Jungle”. Other drivers’ choices are listed in the article at the track’s website.

The race takes the green flag at 7:30 PM Saturday night.

Mears Bringing Special Paint Scheme To Bristol

Casey Mears, driver of the No. 07 Sprint Cup Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, will be bringing a “snow camo” paint scheme to this weekend’s Sharpie 500 at Bristol. The paint scheme will be in honor of Jack Daniel’s USO Salute To The Troops Stuffing Party. The Toast To The Troops logo will be featured on the hood of the No. 07.

“This is just one of the many great things Jack Daniel’s does for our troops,” said Mears. “The people who are serving overseas to protect our freedom are doing it every day of their lives. I think it is great Jack Daniel’s is holding a Stuffing Party during a race weekend. You can’t ask for more patriotic people than NASCAR fans.”

Fans attending the race are encouraged to stop at the Jack Daniel’s Experience at the Earnhardt Campground and fill out a salute as part of 10,000 care packages for military members serving abroad.

Ratings Up For Cup and Nationwide Races At Michigan

ESPN reported that the networks’ broadcasts of the weekend’s races at Michigan International Speedway were up from last year’s totals.

The Carfax 400 Sprint Cup race garnered a 4.1 rating, up from 3.9 in 2008. The Carfax 250 Nationwide Race earned a 1.4 rating, up from 1.3 in 2008.
