Frontstretch’s Truck Series content is presented by American Trucks

Austin Dillon took to Darlington Raceway like a duck in Ramsey’s minnow pond takes to water as he blazed to the top of the charts in the first practice of the day for the Camping World Truck Series’s Too Tough to Tame 200 at Darlington Raceway. Dillon ran 42 laps in practice, which was the third most by anyone. His fast lap came on his 42nd and final lap in what was most likely a practice qualifying run. Dillon’s top speed was 169.013 mph and was the only truck to break the 169-mph barrier.

Timothy Peters was second quick with a 29.163-second lap that clocked in at 168.625 mph. Stacy Compton slotted in third quickest at 168.417 mph in 29.199 seconds. Todd Bodine, the series points leader, was number four on the speed chart with a 29.286-second lap for a speed of 167.916 mph. Rounding out the top five was Ken Schrader, who is driving Kevin Harvick’s No. 2 truck again this week. He timed in at 29.307 seconds with a speed of 167.796 mph.

Filling out the top 10 in first practice were David Starr, Mike Skinner, Johnny Sauter, Ron Hornaday Jr. and Justin Lofton.

There are 36 trucks on the entry list this week, so everyone at the track will make the race. The green flag drops at 7:48 p.m. ET tonight.
