David Ragan wins the pole for the 18th running of the Brickyard 400

David Ragan was the 44th of 48 cars to take to the track Saturday afternoon in qualifying for the Brickyard 400. He laid down a lap of 49.182 seconds for a speed of 182.994 mph. His speed was the fastest among the 48 qualifiers, besting outside pole sitter Kasey Kahne by 18 hundredths of a second. Kahne posted a lap of 49.200 seconds which equated to a speed of 182.927 mph. The second row is made up of Jimmie Johnson, who laid down an impressive lap from his 17th qualifying spot and Kurt Busch. Johnson turned a 49.234 second lap for a speed of 182.801 mph while Busch circled the Speedway in 49.269 seconds and a speed of 182.671 mph. Brad Keselowski and AJ Allmendinger finished off the first three rows for the race.
