After eight years and 53 days, NASCAR National Touring Series racing returned to Rockingham Speedway with the Camping World Truck Series. Kasey Kahne made the trip from Texas back to North Carolina to compete in the race and, even though he had to start at the rear, managed to work his way through the pack and led the final 46 laps of the event to score the win. James Buescher came home in second place ahead of Matt Crafton. Johnny Sauter overcame some pit road difficulties to notch a fourth place finish while Timothy Peters rounded out the top five.
Kahne’s win is his fourth in five career Camping World Truck Series starts. Buescher’s top 10 is his second top 10 of the season. Ty Dillon was the top finishing rookie while Timothy Peters has assumed the points lead after John King had major damage to his truck in an early incident and ended up 33rd.
