Accident Ends Justin Boston’s Day at Pocono

Boston Finishes 22nd at Pocono Raceway

Justin Boston started the Pocono ARCA 200 from the 27th position and finished 22nd after being caught up in a late-race accident on Lap 66 at Pocono Raceway on Saturday afternoon. Boston, driving the No.25 ZLOOP Computer and Electronic Recycling Centers – JACO Environmental Toyota Camry for Venturini Motorsports, had his work cut out for him Saturday afternoon. He started 27th after spinning during qualifying Friday afternoon, but a fast car allowed him to muscle his way into the eleventh-place within the first six circuits around the “Tricky Triangle.” In the early laps of the 80-lap event, Boston relayed to the No. 25 Venturini Motorsports crew that his Toyota was free, so during an early yellow flag on Lap 7, Boston took advantage of the caution to return to the crew for a track bar and wedge adjustment, in addition to topping off with fuel. Restarting tenth, Boston quickly moved forward in the running order, and by Lap 20 he was sixth. The Kevin Reed-led crew later made a variety of track bar and wedge adjustments during multiple two and four-tire pits stops throughout the race to remedy the free condition. Boston later raced in the top-three as the field cycled through green-flag pit stops at the half-way marker. Boston continued to turn quick lap times, battling through the field and moving back up to third by Lap 50. The No. 25 team serviced the Toyota with four new tires, fuel and a tire pressure and track bar adjustment before returning to the field in third with 15 laps remaining. However, not long after completing the 65th lap around the 2.5-mile track among the top-three, Boston was hit from behind by from another competitor, and the push was enough to send Boston into the wall, causing heavy damage to his Toyota’s rear end. The damage was too extensive to continue, and Boston climbed from his white, blue, and orange machine, resulting in a 22nd-place finish.

The next event on the ARCA Racing Series schedule is the Michigan ARCA 200 on Friday, June 13 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. The race starts at 5:15 p.m. EDT, with live coverage provided by FOX Sports 1.

Justin Boston Quote:

“I am okay after that hit on Lap 66. I’m really bummed for all my Venturini Motorsports guys. We had a winning No.25 ZLOOP Computer and Electronic Recycling Centers – JACO Environmental Toyota Camry today, and they worked so hard after we tagged the wall in qualifying. We knew we would be in position for that last run so we took our time getting back to the front all day, just to get taken out. I’m ready to move forward and head to Michigan.”
