NASCAR Penalizes No. 00, No. 19 and No. 30 NCWTS Teams Following Bristol

Three different teams failed post-race inspection following the UNOH 200 presented by ZLOOP last Thursday morning at Bristol Motor Speedway after their rear spoilers were found to be too high. On Tuesday afternoon, NASCAR announced penalties for the Turner Scott Motorsports No. 00, driven by Cole Custer and No. 30, driven by Ron Hornaday, Jr. and the Brad Keselowski Racing No. 19, driven by Keselowski. Each truck was found in violation of sections 12-1 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 20B-12.8.1 (truck failed to meet post-race height requirements) of the NASCAR Rule Book.

The sanctioning body classified the violation as a P2 penalty, and as a result, crew chiefs Joel Shear (No. 00), Doug Randolph (No. 19) and Doug George (No. 30) have each been fined $5,000. In addition, each team has also been penalized with the loss of 10 championship driver points for Coster and Hornaday, and 10 championship owner points for each of the teams. Hornaday is the only driver of the three that is running the full schedule, and the penalty drops him from third to fourth in points, now 27 points behind leader Johnny Sauter.

Keselowski won last Thursday’s Truck Series race for his first career victory, while Hornaday and Custer finished third and sixth, respectively.
