Alex Bowman to Drive for JR Motorsports at Charlotte

Alex Bowman‘s second Nationwide Series start of the season next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway could be the biggest opportunity of his young NASCAR career.

JR Motorsports announced on Thursday that Bowman will be behind the wheel of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro for the organization in the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Drive for the Cure 300 on Oct. 10.

Bowman, who current races full-time in the No. 23 Toyota for BK Racing in the Sprint Cup Series, made his initial Nationwide Series start of the season for Hattori Racing Enterprises in the No. 80 Toyota last weekend at Dover International Speedway, where he finished 19th.

Bowman ran for rookie of the year honors in the series in 2013 for RAB Racing, where he competed in 32 of 33 races, scoring two top 5s and six top 10s with a career-best finish of third in the season-opening Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway.

Dirty Mo Radio, which is team owner Dale Earnhardt, Jr.‘s Internet radio website, will be the primary sponsor for Bowman at Charlotte.
