Johnny Sauter Tops Second Daytona Truck Practice

Frontstretch’s Truck Series content is presented by American Trucks

Thorsport Racing has never won at Daytona International Speedway but that could change – or at least, now its chances are more encouraging. Johnny Sauter was the quickest in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series happy hour session at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday night.

The veteran Truck Series driver ran 190.617 mph.

2015 Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Cameron Hayley (189.962 mph) was second with Austin Theriault, making his first start in the series, third at 189.645 mph.

Ty Dillon (189.577 mph) and Spencer Gallagher (189.561 mph) rounded out the top 5.

Thursday’s final practice will be the last time the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams will be on the track until qualifying on Friday. Austin Hill paced the field during the first practice.

Overall, 35 of 37 trucks took time in during the session.
