Jamie Dick Hospitalized After Xfinity Race at Phoenix

On Sunday afternoon, Viva Motorsports announced that driver/owner Jamie Dick was hospitalized Saturday night after he finished 28th in the Axalta Faster. Tougher. Brighter 200. The team indicated on their Facebook page that the reason was not due to anything that had happened during the race, but “medical reasons unrelated to racing.”

Viva Motorsports’ PR representative Kate Richer told FOXSports.com that Dick went to the Infield Care Center at Phoenix International Raceway after the race for treatment. From there, Dick was transported to West Valley Hospital for observation. There is a diagnosis for what Dick is facing, but the team and Dick’s family is keeping it private for now. It is, however, a little more serious than a regular illness.

As for Dick, he is currently resting at West Valley Hospital. According to a Twitter post from fiancee Kristen Cangilla, Dick is in good spirits.

It is unclear when he will be released from the hospital, or what Viva Motorsports’ plans would be if Dick is forced out of the car for a prolonged absence. We will update this story when more information becomes available.
