Off the Wall With: Chris Buescher

We’re back for season two of Off the Wall With… and we’ve got five brand-new questions for your favorite racing personalities!  This week: Sprint Cup rookie and XFINITY Series champ Chris Buescher.

  1. What was your first race car and what number was it?

Chris Buescher: My first racecar was actually a dirt bike and the number was 67. My dad has a 1967 Cobra that he built and started building right after I was born. When we decided to come up with a number, that was what I thought of.

  1. What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you during a race?

Buescher: I have been upside down in a Legends car. Went upside down in Friendship, North Carolina and spun on the roof. That was a wild ride and one that I’d rather not do again.

  1. What was the first concert you ever attended?

Buescher: I don’t remember exactly who because I did not go to any concerts growing up. We stayed really busy racing. The last four or five years, we’ve gone to a handful of different country artists in the North Carolina area. Jake Owens, a handful of others, I can’t remember which ones.

  1. What’s the best practical joke you were ever involved in, as either perpetrator or victim?

Buescher: We’ll say for April Fools’ Day, we put Greg Biffle’s name on the windshield of our car for practice. That got plenty of attention.

  1. What was the worst thing you hid from your parents as a kid?

Buescher: My first truck — I tore it up playing in the snow when I was out in North Carolina. My parents were still back in Texas. I hid that from them until I sold the truck. Sold the truck, made a little bit of money on it and that’s when I decided to say, “Hey you guys, I put a hole through the bedside and basically killed the left-rear corner.” Fixed it with a couple of buddies from Roush Fenway, actually, at the time. Sent it to the auction.
