Fall Martinsville Qualifying and Race to be a One Day Show

Traditionally the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series has enjoyed multi-day race weekends to tune up, qualify and then race for the win in the top stock car series in the world. That routine will be altered slightly when teams unload at Martinsville Speedway this fall. The new one day format announced Wednesday, will give fans the unique opportunity to watch qualifying and the race on the same day.

The practice session for the Cup Series will still take place on Saturday prior to the Camping World Truck Series, but will be shortened to a traditional “Happy Hour” length of 60 minutes.

Clay Campbell, president of Martinsville Speedway said in the statement, “I think the weekend schedule is really going to add value to a Martinsville Speedway ticket. The fans are the ones who are the real winners here. A Sunday ticket gets fans all of the same excitement they’ve always had, but now they get to watch qualifying as well.

“On Saturday, you can bring the kids for free and treat them to a full day of action, as they will get to see the current Cup stars practice and the future of the sport race in the Alpha Energy Solutions 200.”

2017 marks the 70th anniversary for Martinsville Speedway and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will make their first visit from March 31st-April 2nd. Tickets are available online at www.MartinsvilleSpeedway.com
