Chase Elliott Leads Final Cup Atlanta Practice

What better place to be leading the charts than your home track?

Georgia native Chase Elliott led the way in final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a lap time of 29.487 seconds [188.015 mph].

The Hendrick Motorsports driver, who starts 11th in Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, enters Atlanta coming off a heartbreaking loss in last week’s Daytona 500 and will continue his quest for his first Cup win on Sunday.

Behind the No. 24 was Brad Keselowski, 0.065 seconds back in second followed by Kurt Busch, AJ Allmendinger and Denny Hamlin the top five.

Pole-sitter Kevin Harvick ended 27th on the charts while his Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Clint Bowyer and Danica Patrick also struggled to 18th and 31st quickest, respectively.

Kasey Kahne, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Trevor Bayne and Kyle Larson completed the top 10.
