Race Weekend Central

Chris Green Claims Motorsports in Action’s First CTSC Pole

On Saturday morning, Motorsports in Action’s Chris Green won the pole for today’s Canadian Tire Motorsports Park 120 for the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.  Green’s lap of 84.668 seconds (104.554 mph) was the fastest lap of the entire weekend for the series.

Green’s lap was nearly a half-second faster than C360R’s Paul Holton in second in a similar McLaren 570S GT4.  Rennsport One’s Dylan Murcott was the fastest of the Porsche Caymans in third.  Jack Roush Jr. will try for two wins in a row from fourth on the grid.  Stevenson Motorsports’ Matt Bell will start fifth in the sole Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.

C360R’s No. 77 McLaren did not turn in a lap during the session and will start from the rear of the field.  TeamTGM has fully withdrawn from the weekend following mechanical issues with one car and a big crash for the other.

In Street Tuner, MINI JCW Team continued their good form.  Derek Jones, coming off of a victory last weekend in Watkins Glen, claimed the pole with a lap of 91.721 seconds (96.514 mph).  Jones’ lap was a tenth and a half quicker than BimmerWorld Racing’s Tyler Cooke in the BMW 328i.  Murillo Racing’s Jeff Mosing, likely still sore from his Porsche GT3 Cup crash at Watkins Glen, will start third in class.  Mike LaMarra in the No. 37 MINI will start fourth, while Mark Drennan, a last-minute hire to drive Freedom Autosport’s No. 27 Mazda MX-5, will start fifth.

JDC/Miller MotorSports’ No. 54 BMW 228i of Michael Johnson had all of his laps invalidated because the pit crew touched the car after it left the pit box.  That is a no-no.   The No. 81 BimmerWorld BMW 328i did not take a lap in the session after heavy contact in practice on Friday.
