With not much room for comfort, Martin Truex Jr. led the way in second practice for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
A thousandth of a second to be exact separated Truex’s top time (29.000 seconds) and Kyle Larson’s second-place time (29.001), while Jimmie Johnson, Chase Elliott and Brad Keselowski completed the top five.
With mist surrounded the one-mile track, practice went on without a hitch as all but one of the 39 cars took time during the 55-minute session. Johnson ran the most at 60 laps.
Though there was only one Toyota in the fast five, Erik Jones, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin populated sixth to ninth, giving Toyota half the top-10 speeds.
