Gianmaria Bruni Fastest Overall in WeatherTech Lime Rock Happy Hour

In final practice for IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams at Lime Rock Park Friday afternoon, Porsche GT Team’s Gianmaria Bruni was fastest overall.  Bruni’s lap of 50.601 seconds (104.867 mph) was two-tenths of a second faster than the GT Le Mans pole last year.  It was also more than four-tenths of a second faster than Ford Chip Ganassi Racing’s Dirk Müller in second.

Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen was third quickest, followed by BMW Team RLL’s John Edwards.  Porsche GT Team’s Dirk Werner was fifth fastest.  Despite Bruni blowing the pack away, the entire class was still within two-thirds of a second of each other.  Positions two through eight were separated by only one-sixth of a second.

In GT Daytona, Paul Miller Racing’s Madison Snow put his Lamborghini on top of the charts with a lap of 52.479 seconds (101.114 mph).  Snow’s lap, which was six-tenths of a second fastest than last years’ pole, was a tenth and a half faster than Patrick Long in the Alegra No. 28.  Despite competing in a one-off, Long has plenty of experience in Porsche 911 GT3 Rs to get the job done.

Scuderia Corsa’s Christina Nielsen was third fastest in her Ferrari 488 GT3, followed by James Davison in the No. 007 Aston Martin.  3GT Racing’s Jack Hawksworth was fifth fastest.

There were a number of drivers that missed the chicane on the back side of the course.  Examples of this include BMW Team RLL’s Alexander Sims and SunEnergy1 Racing’s Kenny Habul.  Park Place Motorsports’ Patrick Lindsey collided with CORE autosport’s Jon Bennett.  Bennett spun and continued, but Lindsey’s Porsche suffered damage to the left front corner.  The team will repair the No. 73 prior to qualifying.
