NASCAR Cup Series regulars led the way in opening XFINITY Series practice at Dover International Speedway, paced by Ryan Blaney at 154.275 mph, 0.022 seconds ahead of 2016 spring winner Erik Jones (154.129 mph).
A pair of Chip Ganassi Racing teammates were sixth and seventh with Brennan Poole in front of Kentucky winner Tyler Reddick. Defending winner Daniel Suarez was eighth on the board with Matt Tifft and Elliott Sadler filling the top 10.
The session was halted once for a piece of lead tungsten weight falling from Daniel Hemric‘s machine. The piece was then examined by NASCAR officials.
Final practice for Saturday’s Use Your Melon. Drive Sober 200 at Dover is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.
