Brandon Jones, Cole Custer Lead Two XFINITY Practices at Bristol

Brandon Jones and Cole Custer paced a pair of NASCAR XFINITY Series practices Friday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway.

In the first session, Jones’ No. 19 for Joe Gibbs Racing ran a quick lap of 15.495 seconds (123.833 mph) around the World’s Fastest Half-Mile. Justin Allgaier, Ryan Preece, Christopher Bell and Austin Cindric rounded out the top five on the speed charts.

Cole Custer, Matt Tifft, Daniel Hemric, Spencer Gallagher and Tyler Reddick finished off the top 10.

Bell had the fastest 10-lap average (122.385 mph) followed by Reddick, Gallagher, Allgaier and Chase Briscoe.

There were no major incidents in that practice. However, the second session had plenty.

BJ McLeod had the biggest wreck. He slammed his No. 78 into the outside wall, forcing the team to bring out the backup car.

Reddick spun out twice in the session, leaving minor damage on the JR Motorsports’ No. 9.

Ryan Reed was also one of the drivers to scrape the wall.

Finally, Christopher Bell narrowly missed an incident.

Custer paced the second session with a quick lap of 15.528 seconds (123.570 mph). Hemric, Jones, Preece and Bell rounded out the top five with Allgaier, Ryan Truex, Cindric, Reddick and Briscoe completing the top 10.

Custer, Hemric, Preece and Bell are the four drivers competing for the XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash bonus of $100,000. The highest finishing driver of the quartet will bring home the money.

Qualifying for the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 is scheduled to begin Saturday morning at 9:35 a.m. ET with the race scheduled to go green at 1 p.m. Erik Jones is the defending winner of this event.
