Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson Lead Practices At Sonoma

Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Larson led the two practice sessions at Sonoma Raceway under very sunny skies on a Friday afternoon (June 21) in Wine Country.

In the first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice, it was Truex Jr. who led with a lap at the very end of the session of 95.168, just over 95 miles per hour. Ryan Blaney was second, followed by Chris Buescher, Jimmie Johnson and Michael McDowell rounding out the top five.

Michigan International Speedway winner Joey Logano was 12th quickest in the session.

William Byron ran the most circuits around the 12-turn course — 27 laps, respectfully.

FIRST PRACTICE RESULTS

Larson was the fastest in the 10-lap averages in the opening session.

In the second practice, it was Larson who held the top spot early on in the session, and he never let up. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver ran a lap of 95.488 mph. His CGR teammate Kurt Busch was right behind him, followed by Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer and Matt DiBenedetto rounding out the top five.

FINAL PRACTICE RESULTS

Bowyer was the fastest of the 19 drivers that ran over 10 consecutive laps, with an average speed of 93.416 mph.

Qualifying for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 is scheduled to get underway at 3:10 p.m./ET (12:10 p.m. local time) on Saturday, June 22, the race is scheduled for Sunday, June 23 at 3 p.m./ET (noon local time). Both events will air on FOX Sports 1.
