NASCAR Announces Saturday Night Thunder Event for iRacing Bristol Event

This week’s eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series race at virtual Bristol Motor Speedway will have a new format on Sunday and a new event Saturday, NASCAR announced Wednesday (April 1).

Sunday’s race — the Food City Showdown — will still feature past and present NASCAR Cup Series stars, but the lineup will be set after two heat races. All competitors will transfer from the heat races to to the main event.

Saturday Night Thunder will have drivers from the Xfinity, Gander RV & Outdoors Truck, ARCA Menards, PEAK Mexico and Whelen Euro series. As is often used on short tracks, there will be several heat races that lead up to the main event. None of these racers will transfer to Sunday’s race. However, it offers an additional option for fans to view while the regular NASCAR season is on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Saturday Night Thunder will be live streamed on eNASCAR.com at a time yet to be announced. Sunday’s Food City Showdown will air at 1 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1, the FOX Sports app and select FOX networks.
