After light rain showers delayed the start of the NASCAR Xfinity Series practice at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Riley Herbst ended as the fastest driver in Friday’s (May 28) session.
Herbst went 178.436 mph to go to the top of the board early in the shortened period. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Daniel Hemric was second quickest, going 178.33 mph. AJ Allmendinger’s No. 16 Kaulig Racing car was third with a 177.678 mph lap. Hemric’s JGR teammates Ty Gibbs and Brandon Jones went fourth and fifth-quickest.
Noah Gragson had the best 10-lap average of 172.277 mph out of four drivers.
There were no issues with any cars; rain did bring out the red flag just before practice ended.
Qualifying for the Alsco Uniforms 300 is set to air on Saturday at 10:05 a.m. ET, with the race following a few hours later at 1 p.m. ET. Both will air on FOX Sports 1.
