4 Cup, 2 Xfinity Teams Penalized After Atlanta Events

The penalty report from last weekend’s NASCAR Cup and Xfinity series events at Atlanta Motor Speedway was released on Tuesday, July 13.

Four Cup and two Xfinity crew chiefs were fined $10,000 and $5,000 each, respectively, for unsecured lug nuts.

Adam Stevens (crew chief for Christopher Bell), Jonathan Hassler (Matt DiBenedetto), Mike Wheeler (Bubba Wallace) and Greg Ives (Alex Bowman) all received Cup Series infractions for loose/missing lug nuts. Bell finished eighth, DiBenedetto ninth, Wallace 14th and Bowman came home fourth in Sunday’s race.

In Xfinity, Saturday (July 13) winner Kyle Busch‘s crew chief Chris Gayle and Austin Cindric‘s crew chief Brian Wilson were hit with $5,000 fines.
