Riley Herbst Returns to ARCA at Watkins Glen

Riley Herbst will participate in this week’s ARCA Menards Series race at Watkins Glen International with David Gilliland Racing, the team announced Aug. 2.

Herbst will drive the No. 54 Ford for the team on Aug. 6 in his first ARCA race in 2021.

The Las Vegas native made four starts in ARCA last year, winning at Michigan International Speedway after starting from the pole. His first career ARCA win came at Pocono Raceway in 2017, and he has recorded 34 top 10s in 51 starts in ARCA.

Though he’s never driven for DGR in ARCA, he has history with the team in the Camping World Truck Series, including a start at the Daytona International Speedway road course earlier this year.

The 22-year-old is currently competing in his second full-time season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 98 for Stewart-Haas Racing. He currently sits in 13th in points, 32 points behind Michael Annett for the last playoff spot.

Herbst has garnered two top fives and six top 10s in 2021 in Xfinity, with a best finish of fourth coming at both Phoenix Raceway and Talladega Superspeedway.
