NASCAR Holding Next Gen Tire Test at Daytona

Eight NASCAR Cup Series teams will participate in a Next Gen car test on the high banks of Daytona International Speedway next week, Goodyear announced Aug. 31.

The two-day test will take place Sept. 7-8.

Each team will send one driver to collect the data on the new vehicle.

William Byron, Austin Dillon, Ross Chastain and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. are expected to test the new Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing and JTG Daugherty Racing, respectively.

The new Ford will be driven by Joey Logano, Chris Buescher and Cole Custer for Team Penske, Roush Fenway Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing, respectively.

Out of the Toyota camp, only Denny Hamlin will be present to test for Joe Gibbs Racing.

The session will mark the first multi-car test for the Next Gen car at Daytona.
