Kyle Larson Once Again on Pole for Martinsville Cup Race

For the third consecutive week Kyle Larson will start from the pole, this time in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway.

The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports driver is on a hot streak as he’s won the past three playoff races. His win at Texas Motor Speedway secured his spot in the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway.

Larson’s teammate Chase Elliott is also on the front row in second place, while Joe Gibbs Racing cohorts Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. make up the second row. Team Penske’s Joey Logano rounds out the top five.

Brad Keselowski slots in sixth, Kyle Busch is seventh and Ryan Blaney is the final playoff driver in eighth. Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch complete the top 10.

It’s the final time this season the lineups are set by the performance metrics formula, as on-track qualifying is set to return at Phoenix. Half comes from the driver’s and car owner’s finishing position from Kansas Speedway (25% each), 15% is for where the driver’s fastest lap is ranked and 35% is for the team owner’s points ranking. Each result is added together, and whichever driver has the lowest score starts first.

The Xfinity 500 is set to air on Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.
