John Hunter Nemechek Returning to Hunt for Limited Xfinity Run

John Hunter Nemechek will return to Sam Hunt Racing for a pair of NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2022, SHR announced Jan. 25.

Nemechek will compete in the No. 26 for both Las Vegas Motor Speedway events this year.

Berry’s Bullets will sponsor the effort.

“Berry’s Bullets has been a long-standing partner of mine,” Nemechek said in a team release. “They have been a part of my career since I have been racing full time in NASCAR. I look forward to racing for Sam Hunt Racing again and bringing Berry’s Bullets on board for both NASCAR Xfinity Series Races in Vegas in 2022.”

“Any time we get to go to the track with John Hunter, it’s extremely beneficial for our organization,” team owner Sam Hunt added. “He’s been a large part of our growth, provides invaluable feedback, and even came close to winning a race for us last year at Richmond [Raceway] — my home track. He comes from a gritty background, and he really embraces our group and how I go about building this team.”

Nemechek started five Xfinity races in 2021, two of which came for SHR, with a best finish for the team a third-place run at Richmond. His other three starts were with Joe Gibbs Racing, paced by a win at Texas Motor Speedway.

Nemechek will mainly compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2022 for Kyle Busch Motorsports. In 2021, he won five races and scored 12 top fives and 16 top 10s, finishing third in points.

Nemechek is the third driver announced to SHR’s No. 26 in 2022, following Ryan Truex and Jeffrey Earnhardt.
