Sheldon Creed Wins 1st Truck Series Pole at Circuit of the Americas

Frontstretch’s Truck Series content is presented by American Trucks

AUSTIN, TEXAS —

In 75 previous starts in the Camping World Truck Series, Sheldon Creed won eight races and the 2020 series championship. Despite all of these accomplishments, however, he had never won a pole.

That changed Friday afternoon (March 25), as Creed recorded a lap of 90.985 mph around Circuit of the Americas and will lead the field to the green flag on Saturday afternoon. Creed dominated Friday’s sessions, as he was also the fastest truck in the one practice session.

Zane Smith had the second fastest time in qualifying and will start alongside Creed on the front row. Smith’s No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team won this race in 2021 with Todd Gilliland, and they will look to defend their title during tomorrow’s race.

Alex Bowman will start third in a one-off start in the Truck Series for Spire Motorsports while Parker Kligerman will start alongside him in fourth.

Kyle Busch was quickest in group A of qualifying and will start fifth, while Carson Hocevar was quickest in group B of qualifying and will start sixth.

Stewart Friesen will start seventh, Christian Eckes eighth, Taylor Gray ninth and Tyler Ankrum will round out the top 10.

There was one incident in group B of qualifying, as the session was halted for Jack Wood stalling at the start-finish line.

With 39 entries and only 36 starting spots, three trucks were sent home. Those three were Samuel Leconte, John Atwell and Tyler Hill.
