Justin Allgaier Snags Xfinity Pole at Pocono

It was Ty Gibbs’s pole to lose until the No. 7 of Justin Allgaier went on track and laid down a fast lap of 168.669 mph, grabbing the NASCAR Xfinity Series pole at Pocono Raceway.

It’s Allgaier’s seventh career pole and first of the season. He looks to go back-to-back this weekend after winning at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last week.

Gibbs will start next to Allgaier on the front row, while Brandon Jones and AJ Allmendinger make up the second row, starting third and fourth, respectively. Sammy Smith rounds out the top five.

Sheldon Creed was sixth quickest and Josh Berry slots in seventh. Austin Hill, Noah Gragson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finish the top 10 in eighth through 10th, respectively.

JJ Yeley didn’t make a lap as his car had an engine issue in practice. Brennan Poole also had trouble in practice, hitting the wall in turn 3 and incurring significant right-side damage. Poole did not make the race.
