Team Penske Appealing Penalty to Ryan Blaney’s Pit Crew

Team Penske has appealed the penalty issued to Ryan Blaney‘s crew chief and two crew members for a lost wheel at Bristol Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series race last weekend, FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass reported.

As a result, crew chief Jonathan Hassler, jackman Graham Stoddard and rear tire changer Zachary Price will remain with the team this week at Texas Motor Speedway at the start of the Round of 12.

The three crew members were suspended four races after a wheel came off on pit road.

Blaney finished 30th last Saturday (Sept. 17).

Blaney, who’s currently in his seventh full-time season and fifth with Penske, sits eighth in points coming into Texas. He’s earned eight top fives and 13 top 10s so far this year.

Overall, Blaney has earned seven wins, 57 top fives and 109 top-10 finishes in his Cup career.

What do they base the appeal on, that’s your assigned follow up story. I must be missing something here !

It was explained to me that some articles here are merely repeating news flashes, this is one such article. No analysis provided, just keeping the readers up on the latest headlines.

The appeal process delays the start of the penalty. This way the have the regulars for the opening race of the round instead of substitutes for the whole round at the track that is less of a crapshoot than the other 2 with the hope that a good finish at Texas can get them to the next round. They probably know they will loose the appeal but it is a strategy move.

Thanks, makes sense.

That’s my complaint about FS, they don’t follow up with details about their stories.
