Who’s Hot / Who’s Not in Sprint Cup: Talladega – Kansas Edition

Restrictor plate racing. It’s hard to describe the sensation it brings. Just when it appears evident that a dominant car/driver has prevailed, the field shuffles again.Brian Scott had it right when he said, “Love them or hate them, with the luck involved in superspeedway racing, you always feel like you have as good a shot as …

Thinkin’ Out Loud: 2014 Aaron’s 499 at Talladega

Key Moment – On lap 137, Brad Keselowski, who was already six laps down thanks to an incident with Danica Patrick on lap 14 while going for the lead, spun in front of the field while trying to get his lap back the old fashioned way. At the time he and Jamie McMurray were the only two cars not on the …

The Big 6: Questions Answered After the 2014 Aaron’s 499 at Talladega

Some drivers just sneak up on you, and so far in 2014, Brian Vickers has been one of those drivers. He’s quietly put together some strong runs, including his fourth-place finish in Talladega this week. Vickers wasn’t totally stealthy on Sunday; he did lead three times during the race. The No. 55 team does still have some holes to patch (they’re not yet consistent enough to be a title threat), but Vickers sits 10th in points. That’s ahead of race winners Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch, as well as three-time champion Tony Stewart and teammate Clint Bowyer. Vickers still needs to win to lock down a Chase spot, but he’s making a case for that happening.

The Return Of “Bad Brad” Hits NASCAR At Talladega

Remember this January? When someone asked Brad Keselowski if he’d calm down the controversy? Late last year, his Twitter feed had begun to resemble Disney Channel standards instead of the steamy FOX News political debate he had once successfully produced? Things had gotten so G-Rated, “noted FOX Sports columnist Tom Jensen actually made a fair point”:http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/taste-of-reality-nascar-s-law-in-order-approach-quieting-bad-brad-021214 Brad had been “muzzled” by …

It’s big. It’s bad. It’s fast. It’s Talladega! This race needs little introduction. This one has been perhaps the most anticipated Talladega race in recent memory, and if practice and qualifying were any indication of what is to come today, then the hype will be justified. Racing to the Point: Ambrose, Mears Fight Decision Will Set Precedent

Generally, when fans think about NASCAR and fighting, they flash back to the Daytona brawl of 1979 — because nothing since has even come close to rivaling it. There are disagreements and shoves every time NASCAR visits a short track, but nothing all that memorable. Brad Keselowski was furious enough at Matt Kenseth on Saturday that he brake-jobbed Kenseth …

2013 Acs Cup Casey Mears On Camera Cia 430

Last week, I wrote about stupidity in advertisement and how multitudes of commercials are, or at least should be, an insult to your intelligence. If you disagree, well, you should probably stop reading this column now because it’s definitely not going to be for you. Now, my editors will probably not let my original title stand …

Who’s Hot / Who’s Not in Sprint Cup: Richmond – Talladega Edition

The Sprint Cup Series lit up the night in Richmond Saturday (April 26). Four of NASCAR’s best drivers put on an unforgettable show over the final laps before the most unlikely of the bunch ran away with the win. No matter; they each continued to lay the foundations for potential playoff pushes. Fire was a …

Five Points to Ponder: Surprising Names Off To Solid NASCAR Starts

ONE: What a Season So Far In the seven years I’ve been a weekly NASCAR columnist it is fair to say that there have been many more reasons to be critical than to be effusive. Sinking TV ratings, the car of sorrow, empty stands, mind-numbing races, Jimmie Johnson winning everything — you name it, and folks, to …
