Team Rensi Motorsports is facing a December shutdown if new sponsorship cannot be found, but Nationwide Series driver Bobby Hamilton, Jr. says he is not ready to quit driving just yet. But, said one anonymous insider, “The main obstacle he faces is that, in the Cup Series, most owners have — just as do most theme parks — minimum ride height requirements.”
The Nationwide Series took to a short track for the second time in three weeks and, also for the second time in three weeks, Clint Bowyer dominated the race. And nonetheless, for the second time in three weeks, Bowyer failed to score the win. Despite leading 195 of the 250 laps run, Bowyer’s car went to the loose side late in the running, allowing fellow title contender Carl Edwards to sneak by late and score his fourth Nationwide victory of the season. Bowyer finished third, after he was passed by Scott Wimmer with less than 15 laps to go.
Joey Logano, after scoring his second consecutive pole award, scored his first career Nationwide Series win in convincing fashion, leading five times for 76 laps, including the final 54 of the Meijer 300.
Brad Keselowski was able to celebrate the Federated Auto Parts 300 win in victory lane with much of his family, as brother Brian Keselowski was also in town after attempting to qualify for Saturday’s event (he spun on his qualifying lap and DNQ’d).

Scott Wimmer, along with the rest of the race leaders, drove “with an egg under the throttle,” saving fuel to the finish to lock up the Pepsi 300 win for the No. 29 Chevrolet. Wimmer’s victory was the first for a Nationwide Series regular this season.
The Busch Series race at Memphis was more like a Friday night Demolition Derby than an event that originated from the number two stock car series in America. On a day when almost half of the race was run under the yellow flag, a total of 25 caution flags for 117 laps dominated the headlines, coming up one short of the all-time record for the series. The longest green-flag run of the entire race was 20 laps, from lap 20 through lap 40; the wreckfest made the race horrific to watch and caused several teams to use pit strategy to get to the front, as several teams found their fuel windows extended due to the slower average speed. In fact, all of the fits and starts allowed teams to run over half of the race on their final pit stops.
