Hello, race fans. It’s that time again, where I go over the NASCAR telecasts with a fine tooth comb. This week, the Sprint Cup Series held their annual Sprint All-Star Race and Sprint Showdown, while the Camping World Truck Series served as the main support with their race on Friday night.
After a three-hour rain delay, Kyle Busch took the checkered flag 0.228 seconds ahead of Todd Bodine to win the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 in the early hours of Saturday morning. Busch started on the pole and never dropped out the top 10 on the way to his 18th career Camping World Truck Series win. Ron Hornaday Jr., James Buescher and Elliott Sadler rounded out the top five.
It’s Friday afternoon at Atlanta Motor Speedway. With Cup practice roaring to life on the track and the Cup garage bustling with activity, I’m making my way over to the Truck garage for my four o’clock interview with Brent Raymer. I get to the No. 85 team’s hauler, only to find… no one.
Todd Bodine took the checkered flag 0.249 seconds ahead of Kyle Busch to win the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway on Friday night. Bodine overcame an early-race black flag for advancing his position below the double yellow line on his way to victory lane. Terry Cook, rookie JR Fitzpatrick and Ron Hornaday Jr. rounded out the top five.
