The Bank of America 500 is the 31st race on the 36-race NASCAR Nextel Cup Series schedule. The Cup Series visits the 1.5-mile Lowe’s Motor Speedway twice a year – Kasey Kahne won the Coca-Cola 600 at the track in May.
While this is NOT real racing, Talladega is sure an exciting event! This year featured over 60 lead changes, with 40 of them legitimate green-flag passes on the track. Now, if we can just get NASCAR to not play GOD with the results… we will be OK.
Was this week’s race at Kansas just an aberration, or are we finally beginning to see one of the “cookie-cutter” tracks come into its own and provide good racing?
On Friday night for the Busch race, we got a classy rendition of the National Anthem by a military band. Saturday night, we got an out-of-tune rock band just there to promote their album. Classy addition, though, to include the Pledge of Allegiance in the pre-race festivities, way to go, Richmond!
