Frontstretch Breakdown: 2006 Ford 400 at Homestead

In the Nextel Cup season finale, Greg Biffle charged into the lead late and then held off Martin Truex Jr. in a green-white-checkered finish to win at Homestead Miami Speedway for the third consecutive year. It was Biffle's first victory since Darlington in May in a season that saw him fall from second to 13th in the year-end standings. 2006 Chase for the Championship participants Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, and Matt Kenseth finished third through sixth. In the end, though, none of them did enough to catch up to the No. 48 team; Johnson finished ninth in the race to take the title by 56 points over Kenseth.

Greg Biffle Ready To Handle New Crew Chief in 2007

Avondale, Ariz. - It was announced this week that Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 Roush Racing car, will be paired with a new crew chief next season as part of a multi-car crew chief swap at Roush. Pat Tryson, currently crew chief for the No. 6 team and driver Mark Martin, will be joining Biffle next season, replacing current crew chief Doug Richert.

Racing to the front early and often, Stewart used four fresh tires to pass Dale Earnhardt Jr. with 11 laps to go to secure the victory in Sunday's Bass Pro Shops 500. Jimmie Johnson also got by Junior before the checkered flag to take second, leaving him behind to contest a furious side-by-side battle with Matt Kenseth; the No. 8 car pushed ahead by .009 of a second at the line to take third. While Kenseth lost that contest, his fourth-place finish kept his point lead intact, although it shrank to just 26.
